VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT! Meet Sarah McDonald…
Sarah began her journey with Foothills a year ago this month. During this past year, we have had the pleasure of getting to know Sarah and her two daughters as they have become a big part of the Foothills family. Each of the girls have added so much to the well-being of the animals, under the tutelage and inspiration of their incredible mother…and what an inspiration she is! Sarah has given countless hours to enhance the lives of all our shelter animals, in a myriad of ways. In the process, she has left an indelible mark and gained tremendous respect from everyone she encounters.
Sarah is one of those amazing people, who represents the ability to never give up. She is full of energy and imagination and never hesitates to go that extra mile to help the animals with greatest needs. Although ALL animals’ lives matter to Sarah, she concentrates on giving the hard-luck dogs, who have endured past hardships, the extra attention and time they deserve. She brings to Foothills her years of experience, her countless skills, and a humongous heart as she and her girls take on their new ‘challenge pup’.
Sarah and her girls have so many adventures with their ‘challenge pup’. They go on frequent hikes, car rides, sleepovers, Starbucks (puppuccino is a must), park visits, long walks, adoption events, and swims. They focus on the dog’s social skills, motivations, and improving connections with children, adults, and other animals. In Sarah’s world, every moment is a training moment, with the purpose of instilling expectations and routine. She is driven by her immense love of animals and sharing that passion with her daughters.
Sarah also captures special pup moments with photographs. She knows a picture is worth a thousand words, when telling an animal’s story. She has an incredible eye for detail and documents those special times with her daughters; be it on hikes, at home, at the shelter, adoption events and of course in the car. She gives the community and beyond, the opportunity to SEE how special all animals are and documents their personalities to a tee, which in turn, ups their adoptability.
Sarah is one of those rare individuals who rarely says no to anything when it comes to volunteering at Foothills. ☺️ She is aware that the shelter needs extend far beyond dog-walking and kitten-socializing, and never hesitates to jump right in. We are blessed and grateful to have Sarah McDonald and her compassionate daughters on our team of ‘amazing volunteers’! Cheers and a huge shout-out for your continued commitment to the ‘paw-fect animals’
